  • Love it - sounds really great. I am still waiting for a Ray Wilson album with all those tracks he has covered over the years.

... good things come to those who wait

  • I wish Ray would tour more outside Germany and Poland

I don't know much about his work and life, so looked up his setlist.fm and wikipedia entries. I noticed that yes he concentrates on touring Poland, where I gather he lives, and especially Germany. He does a lot of live work, mainly in those countries with occasional visits to other surrounding nations. I'm assuming these are small venues, clubs and theatres? Where presumably he gets decent numbers and appreciative audiences. I suppose he perceives that there'd be very little or no interest beyond those territories so he's being practical.

5 of his top 10 most frequently performed live tracks are Genesis, with FYFM the top, plus PG/PC solo and Stiltskin tracks. He's done the occasional M&tMs one but so far as I could see, no Banks or Hackett tracks.

Anyone here been to any RW gigs?

    Abandon all reason

Yes I have seen plenty (not too difficult, I live in Germany). We have also followed his solo career from the beginning and yes, he mainly plays clubs and theatres.

He did a Ray Wilson & Stiltskin only tour once (promoting the SHE album), where he didn't play any Genesis and of course there's the gig around his 50th birthday, where he also didn't play Genesis stuff.

Ray would do another UK or US tour if there's a promoter taking the risk, which I fully understand.

Personally, I'd love to see him being more focused on his solo tracks, but of course, playing the genesis stuff etc is also creating an audience.

This new song is indeed a good example that he's also good in singing other people's stuff - so far he has refused to record an album with cover versions (have asked him twice), but eventually his last album "The Weight of man" contains "Golden Slumbers" by the Beatles ...
