Phil will also be taking part in a charity concert in early December. What is unusual about this ‘Tennis Exhibition’ event is the line-up of the Coeur de GE. Band, which includes Phil’s son Simon Collins and tennis legends Yannick Noah (vocals) and John McEnroe (guitar & vocals). In addition to his hit In The Air Tonight, Phil also plays drums on a couple of songs which he will probably be performing for the first time here…

Phil‘s last public appearance for the next few months will be on 11 December when he travels to Oslo to play two of his songs on the piano at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. Otherwise, his main project seems to have reached the final stage of production. Whether the five Tarzan demos were created later this year or earlier is unfortunately unknown.

It is not known exactly when the recordings for Tarzan will take place, but it can be assumed that they will not be completed in the new year. The soundtrack album will be released a month before the premiere of Tarzan on 12 June in Los Angeles (for which Phil has been offered another film by Disney).

The album also contains four score tracks by Mark Mancina, which have been assembled into suites from shorter pieces of orchestrated background music. The total of 50 shorter score tracks were never officially released on recordings, but can be found on unofficial bootlegs. Phil Collins’ involvement in the score is limited to individual drum parts or the use of Collins’ song motifs in the orchestral arrangement.

There are a few live events around the autumn release for promotional purposes. Not only are four Tarzan songs and Collins hits featured here, but Phil and his band also play Genesis songs for the first time alongside the Temptations number Get Ready (apart from Collins’ version of Behind The Lines)…

Until the release of the last Tarzan single, Son Of Man, on the first of February of the new millennium, Phil is still busy promoting it. At the same time, he and his wife Orianne are working on a foundation to support young talent, which will be launched in February under the name ‘Little Dreams Foundation’. But he is already thinking about his next projects: the new Disney project Brother Bear and a Love Songs compilation! Little did he know that his ‘Tarzan story’ would have two more chapters in 2004 and 2006…
