Brand X: Project album “Marscape” to be re-issued
The album project Marscape by Jack Lancaster and Robin Lumley (feat. Phil Collins) will be reissued. Strictly speaking, Marscape is a “secret” Brand X album. The project was created between the Brand X debut albums Unorthodox Behaviour and Moroccan Roll. Jack Lancaster and Robin Lumley wrote the tracks when Phil Collins first toured as lead singer with Genesis. Finally, the Lancaster/Lumley concept album Marscape was recorded with the help of Brand X fellows John Goodsall, Percy Jones and Phil Collins and other guest musicians, such as Morris Pert on percussion, who Lumley already knew from other productions, with producer Dennis Mackay at Trident Studios. You can find more background information in our Brand X Special An Unorthodox History.
This album was recorded and released in 1976 and was composed and conceived to mark the landing on Mars of Nasa’s Viking 2 Explorer in September of that year.. The reissue, to be released via Esoteric / CherryRed on 25 March, has been remastered based on the original mastertapes and features fully restored artwork, includes a booklet with an essay and interview with Jack Lancaster.
