Anthony Phillips - Recording Compendium (5)

Official tracks, Demos, Outtakes & more

Part 5: Slow Dance / New England / Sail The World | 1988 - 1994

last update: 7th February 2023

After a trip to the USA in May, Anthony Phillips starts recording ideas for his next album in June '88 in his renewed "Vic's Place" studio. Unlike the last three albums, which were all very sparsely orchestrated, this album is intended to represent as wide a range of his musical facets as possible.

In addition to the Atmosphere Library project Horror, Tension, Suspense 2, another commissioned work is due in 1993: beginning with the TV documentary on the history of the Whitbread Round The World yacht race, an unusual period starts for Ant from August onwards, during which he continuously provides contributions for the 35 weekly reports of the race, some of which are broadcast live, until February of the following year, starting at the beginning of October.

1981

A CD release with the music will be available at the end of the race. The material will also be "recycled" in parts for a library release in 1995.
