After his orchstral phase, Peter continued working on his new album - but got always disctracted by various litle projects and some touring activity.

Before Peter Gabriel has left Genesis and released his first solo album in 1977, he wrote quite a lot of music and some of this stuff has surfaced over the years.
Soon after his first tour, Peter Gabriel began to work on his second album and recorded in New York. Later, he got to know Tom Robinson, which led to a creative output. Find all recordings here.
It took a while until Peter Gabriel's third album was released. Peter started to be involved in various projects. In the end this also affected his own output, as you can read here.
The fourth album also took him two years to finish. With the growing confidence within his own style, Peters reputation also increased as well as his approach to work with different people. In addition, Peter developed an interest for world music, which also had an enormeous effect on his output.
Not only the album So became his most successful album to date, there are also an awful lot of remixes and edits of the stuff from that period. That's why part 5 is the most extensive part of the compendium ... so far.
After the huge success of So, Peter took some time until his next big release. Nevertheless, Peter was still quite productive during this period.
It was about time: FInally, Peter Gabriel released his next studio album after So - the album US. During the following years, he also released a live album, two CD-ROMs and he got involved again in various projects.
After Peter Gabriel had finished his Secret World Tour, it took a while until a new album came out. And this was a rather unexpected one.
The new century quickly delivered fruther releases after OVO. After a long time of silence, the output was suddenly impressive, not only in terms of quantity.
The Real World Recording Weeks were legendary: Beside little snippets and outtakes, nothing really saw the light of day - until Peter released an album called Big Blue Ball.
Peter Gabriel's orchestra project turned out to be unexpectedly successful - at least at a level which caused yet another distraction from working on a new album. Meanwhile, Peter was also quite creative elsewhere.
