The Cottage played an important role in the early stages of the band. Richard Macphail had told attendants of the fanclub’s Early Years Event 2005 lots about it, now Mino Profumo actually went there and took history lessons, as it were, from Richard in the cottage.
After their Top Ten success in 1973 Genesis went on to produce their most ambitious work in 1974 – a production that brought out big rifts in the band.

After their first major successes Genesis produced an album in 1973 that is generally considered one of the best they ever recorded. Steve Hackett describes it as his favourite Genesis album, and some songs from it were still played on the 2007 tour.

The self-titled album from 1983 was the record that made Genesis a real stadium band. They moved further away from progressive pieces without abandoning them totally. As a result of this messieurs Banks, Rutherford and Collins seemed to get ever better at writing shorter pieces.
