Djabe & Steve Hackett announce new studio album

Djabe & Steve Hackett announce new studio album

Steve Hackett and the Hungarian band Djabe have a long tradition of working together. Steve plays several concerts with Djabe almost every year and there have also been several studio albums, including the two ‘Sardinian excursions’ Life Is A Jornuey: The Sardinia Tapes and Back To Sardinia.

Now Djabe & Steve Hackett have announced a new studio album together. Freya – Arctic Jam was created at the beginning of the year when Steve and Djabe performed together in Norway as part of the Bodø Jazz Open. They took advantage of the time and also recorded a new album there (north of the Arctic Circle).

As with the previous album The Sardinia Tapes, the music on the new album is inspired by the environment in which it was created. It is the result of a series of jam sessions recorded around the two concerts there. Djabe guitarist Attila Égerházi explains: “The whole stay and the music recorded was extraordinary and magical.”

The resulting album Freya – Arctic Jam has now been announced for 28 February and will be released by CherryRed.

The release also includes a bonus region free Blu-ray disc featuring a 5.1 Surround Sound mix of the album, along with bonus audio and visual features including live material recorded in Norway in January 2024 and Hungary in 2023 along with the documentary Arctic Jam.
