Genesis: “R-Kive” released today
Ten years after the Platinum Collection, Genesis have released a new career spanning compilation today. R-Kive may be yet another Best-of package, but unlike any previous release, the set sums up the whole family, i.e. it contains, besides Genesis tracks, also an equal share of three selected tracks from each solo career (Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike + The Mechanics). The release is surely not a treat for fans, but it may give new listeners the chance to hear Genesis with different ears – and to learn how many solo careers are connected with the band. R-Kive is released today in most countries (tomorrow in North America). A bit strange is the release plan for Germany. While the digital version has been available since last friday, the 3CD-set itself will not be available before next friday.
R-Kive will be followed by the documentary Sum Of The Parts, due in November. In late October, the band will also release a HD-version of their Three Sides Live concert film.
