Jonas Reingold: New Karmakanic album
Jonas Reingold will be releasing a new album from his Karmakanic project in March – with lots of guests from the Genesis family.
Jonas Reingold from Sweden is best known to Genesis fans as the bassist in the Steve Hackett Band (see for example our report on last year’s summer tour), but before that he was also a member of the prog band The Flower Kings.
After an eight-year break, Jonas Reingold returns with his solo project Karmakanic. Transmutation is the project’s sixth album and will be released on 7 March.
Reingold has assembled a high-calibre line-up of world-class musicians. Among them is Steve Hackett, who delivers stunning guitar work throughout the album. Drumming legends Simon Phillips (Toto, The Who, Judas Priest), Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train, Spock’s Beard, Mr Big) and Craig Blundell (Steven Wilson, Steve Hackett, Frost) provide a rhythm section of exceptional depth.
For the first time, Reingold collaborates with vocalist John Mitchell (Asia, Lonely Robot, Frost, Arena), whose raspy, soulful voice is a perfect match for Reingold’s melodic compositions. In addition, Randy McStine provides the necessary power on lead guitar, marking their first collaboration since The Fringe in 2016.
Jonas: ‘I have to pinch myself when I see who’s on this album – heroes of mine! I’m really humbled and grateful for their contributions. This is a collaborative project. I often joke that Karmakanic is the prog equivalent of FC Barcelona – only with the best players on board.’
