Last Wednesday (7 June 2023) Mike + The Mechanics played the final show of their acclaimed Refueled Tour in Düsseldorf, Germany. On this tour the band played a whole of 34 concerts in the UK and ended with a run of another 6 concerts in Germany (concert report from Frankfurt, Germany).
In a recent interview with a German newspaper, Mike Rutherford stated that after a hiatus of several years due to Covid and the Genesis tour he is willing to write new songs with his band. In a chat with fans in Düsseldorf, Tim Howar confirmed that recording an album might even be an option of the second half of 2023 followed by an extensive tour next year. However, there obviously seem to be concrete plans for Mike + The Mechanics to continue in the near future.
The last album Out Of The Blue was released in 2019, the last one only consisting of new songs was Let Me Fly, released in 2017.
