Paul Carrack's new studio album, One On One, is out today. Carrack not only wrote, played and recorded the album in his home studio - this time he followed his muse and trusted his instincts until the last day and mixed the album himself as well. He still has a few guest musicians on it (Robbie McIntosh and former James Brown sideman Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis).
"Actually, we should have been on the road all last year," he recalls. "In January, February, March, things were going great, shows were selling out, and we were supposed to go to Europe, USA and Australia. In the middle of March I got the feeling that things were winding down, and we thought it would probably only last a few months, so we postponed a lot of shows, but it quickly became clear that the situation wasn't going to change soon. I started going to the studio, initially to keep my voice going, but I realized it also helped keep my mind busy and served as a kind of therapy during a very troubled time."
The album contains ten tracks:
Good And Ready
A Long Way To Go
I Miss You So
You're Not Alone
Lighten Up Your Mood
Precious Time
When Love Is Blind
Shame On You, Shame On Me
Set Me Free
Behind Closed Doors
One On One is available on CD, LP and as digital album.
Self-titled album, though some call it M6. The last album with Paul Young, who died in 2000.
