Peter Gabriel: “And I’ll Scratch Yours” – official!
Yesterday, we have reported that the concluding part of the song exchance album concept is on the way (see news item here). After Scratch My Back in 2010, Peter Gabriel will now release And I’ll Scratch Yours at his own label Real World. The album will be released on 23rd September 2013 (Europe, 24th September USA / Canada) and features twelve songs, mostly recorded by artists who were covered by Peter on Scratch My Back. The complete list of songs:
David Byrne – I Don’t Remember
Bon Iver – Come Talk To Me
Regina Spektor – Blood Of Eden
Stephin Merritt – Not One of Us
Joseph Arthur– Shock The Monkey
Randy Newman – Big Time
Arcade Fire – Games Without Frontiers
Elbow – Mercy Street
Brian Eno – Mother Of Violence
Feist feat. Timber Timbre – Don’t Give Up
Lou Reed– Solsbury Hill
Paul Simon – Biko
David Byrne has covered Peter representing the Talking Heads, while Brian Eno did it for David Bowie. Stephin Merritt represents The Magnetic Fields. You may have noticed missing swaps by Tom Yorke (Radiohead) and Neil Young, those were replaced by Joseph Arthur, who’s contribution might be identical with his performance released by the Voice Project, and Feist.
And I’ll Scratch Yours will be released in two formats – as a stand alone album and as a double-CD-set with Scratch My Back, as it was originally intended.
At this point pre-orders are available at RealWorld, both for digital albums and CD versions. No vinyl version has been announced yet.
