Peter Gabriel: Another early version of “Don’t Give Up” released

Another version of the track Don’t Give Up by Peter Gabriel has been released on Bandcamp today for the new moon.

After the Embryo version of Don’t Give Up for the full moon a fortnight ago, today we get the ‘Early multi-track version’. This version was recorded in August 1981 at Ashcombe House – still with the band that recorded the fourth album:

Jerry Marotta – drums

Tony Levin – bass

David Rhodes – guitar

John Ellis – guitar
Larry Fast – synths
Peter Gabriel – synths, programming, vocals

Interestingly, the line-up is given as a “Likely personnel”, so they are not sure. According to Peter, this version (still without lyrics and without vocals) probably comes from a tape that also contains an early version of Shock The Monkey.

Gabriel’s Full Moon Club on Bandcamp provides fans with at least three tracks per month and costs £3 per month. A credit card is required for the subscription. You can find the Full Moon Club here.

A complete list will all Bandcamp exclusives can be found in this article.
