Peter Gabriel: News about “Scratch My Back”

Peter Gabriel’s new album Scratch
My Back is ready to be released. We have compiled all the news for
you:

new album will be released in different formats:

The standard CD has 12 tracks.

The special edition has 12 tracks and a bonus CD with four bonus tracks plus
access to lossless FLAC files. For details about the individual songs please
check out the detail page about the new
album.

Both versions of the album will also be released in digital form. The special
edition, however, will only be released in the iTunes LP format, while the
standard version will be available digitally from all the usual retailers.

There may also be a vinyl version. Details about this are still to be
confirmed, though.

“Scratch My Back” – first single released

At the end of this week the first double A-side from the projects will be
released. The Book Of Love is an
interpretation of a song by The Magnetic
Fields. It is a new recording, i.e. NOT the same version as on the Shall We Dance soundtrack. The Magnetic
Fields, or rather their musical head Stephin Merritt, cover Not One Of Us in return. This song is also
included in the release. The single comes out only in digital form. Every full
moon there will be further double A side singles that include a song swap pair –
cf. also the news item about the iPhone app below.

“My Body Is A Cage” – complete audio available

You can listen to Gabriel’s interpretation of the Arcade Fire song My
Body Is A Cage on Stereogum.

“Heroes” released as mp3 for a Haiti charity

Technically for free, but you are urged to donate a sum of money to help the
victims of the Haiti earthquake before you get the link from which you can
download a charity album. The album includes Gabriel’s version of Bowie’s
classic “Heroes”. “Heroes” is also the opening song on Scratch My

Scratch My Back – third podcast published

The third (and last) podcast about the new album has been published on iTunes
and on WOMADSHOP. It has information about I Think It’s Going To Rain Today,

Full Moon Club app published for iPhone

There is now a Full Moon Club app for users of the Apple iPhone. With this
app you can watch all Full Moon videos 2010. You will also be offered all double
A-sides from Scratch My Back, and there will be other specials
throughout the year. iPhone owners may find this a useful supplement of the
website and the podcasts. The app is available from the iTunes
store – for free.
