Peter Gabriel: Third version of “Don’t Give Up” now on Bandcamp

Peter Gabriel has released the expected third version of the song Don’t Give Up on Bandcamp today.

After the two early versions, today we get the third version: ‘Kate’s Mix’. However, Kate Bush cannot be heard on this recording either. In fact, it is the version that Peter Gabriel sent to Kate Bush so that she could record her vocal parts. Accordingly, Peter Gabriel also sings Kate Bush’s parts on this version of Don’t Give Up.

Peter is joined on this version by Tony Levin, David Rhodes, Simon Clark and Richard Tee. P P Arnold, Coral Gordon and Dee Lewis can also be heard on backing vocals. An interesting feature of this version is the somewhat more playful finale with improvised lyrics and no fade-out. This version was recorded on 6 November 1985.
