Phil Collins receives honorary doctorate by KUG Graz
The Austrian Kunstuniversität Graz (University of Music and Performing Arts Graz) will give Phil Collins an honorary doctorate on 22nd May. This happens for the first time in the history of the university. Both, Rectorial Board and Senate of the university, decided to honor Phil Collins’ contribution to Jazz and Popular Music.
The ceremony will take place on 22nd May with a concert of the university’s Jazz Orchestra together with the Vine Street Horns, who are Phil Collins’ horn section in his live band (see photo below). His keyboardist Brad Cole will also be part of the concert. A roundtable talk with students is also planned and Phil Collins will be part of this. Nevertheless, Collins will not perform on stage during the show. Both, roundtable talk and the concert are closed events and not open to the public [source].
Phil Collins will kick off the European leg of his Still Not Dead Yet Live Tourin Vienna, Austria, on 2nd June, supported by Mike + The Mechanics. A full list of dates can be found on our tour dates page. You will then see Dr. h.c. Phil Collins on stage.
