The Musical Box: Steve Hackett on stage

Canadian band The Musical Box are coming to Europe this month, and they are bringing the legendary Lamb Lies Down On Broadway show with them (after its first run in 2005 and 2006). Since the 1990s The Musical Box have been meticulously reconstructing the early Genesis shows up to the 1976 tour in every detail. They even have some of the original props and technology – and the support of individual members of Genesis. What it all adds up to is an excellent copy of the 1974/75 shows. Younger fans get the opportunity to see a Genesis live show for which they were too young at the time, and older fans can take a trip down memory lane. You can read up here on reports from previous performances of the band in Europe, including reviews of other shows for Selling England and Foxtrot.

lambThe 2012 tour kicks off in Italy on Jan 26, with Aschaffenburg the first show in Germany on Feb 02. A very special show will take place a couple of days before that: Steve Hackett is going to join the band on stage for the encore (Watcher Of The Skies) in Zurich! This will be the third time a member of Genesis plays a song with the band. Steve Hackett has previously done that in 2002, and Phil Collins, too, drummed the encore song The Musical Box with them in Geneva in 2006.

During the last year the band has been touring in North America. We have published a report from the Milwaukee show. Their European tour will take The Musical Box to Germany, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Tickets for the French shows are available from this link. Tickets for the German shows are available from Eventim or straight from WiV Entertainment. Tickets for the UK-shows are available via Ticketmaster.
