In 1998 we had the first celebrity live at the club day in Welkers – albeit only via a telephone link: Steve Hackett answered questions by the audience. Knock And Knowall were the live act.
For the second meeting, which took place in Nuremberg, we could offer the fans a bit more as far as exhibtions and collector’s market were concerned. Seconds Out provided another good end for the day.
1996 saw us meeting in Eichenzell-Welkers near Fulda for the first time. That day became the foundation for many more conventions to come – not only because of the good location right in the middle of Germany, but also because of the structure and the various programme parts. Live music was provided by The Way We Folk.
Nursery Cryme was the focal point of this fanclub event which took place in Duisburg. For technical reasons we could not organize much of an exhibition or accompanying programme, but The Musical Box played a grandiose Nursery Cryme show exclusively for the German fans.
By 1997 Welkers was well-established as the location for the club day. Rudi’s Quiz premiered, while the dart quiz remained a one-off experiment. The Brazilians and Eddy Pachali provided live entertainment.
The Evolution Of Genesis event in Welkers marked the 15th anniversary of our fanclub and showed how Genesis have developed throughout the years. This time we had two very special guests, Armando Gallo and Genesis’ drummer on Trespass, John Mayhew.
Just a couple of months after our regular club day we staged our first event which was all about the album Selling England By the Pound. Those who came to Welkers could see many interesting rarities such as exclusive Selling videos by Genesis and The Musical Box.

The early years of Genesis between 1966 and the summer of 1973 were the topic of this event. Highlights were the on-stage interview with Richard Macphail and a performance by Champagne Meadow who presented old songs in new forms.

This was the first club day for which the organisational (and editorial) staff was reinforced by Christian Gerhardts. Which did not change too much in the general concept of the meeting. We had a raffle (for the second time) and John Morrel’s band Anyway played live.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of our fanclub, we will host yet another fan convention (our 23rd) in October 2017. Special guests will be The Carpet Crawlers from the UK.
We used the Welkers club day to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the fanclub and the release of our very own fanclub CD ‘it’s only knock and knowall’. The live act consisted of John Morrell and Robert Mulch.
This event was all about ‘The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway’. Because of the enormous interest this generated it was turned into a two-day event that drew people from several European countried to Welkers where they could see some rare ‘Lamb’ footage.
The 1999 fanclub day was a mixture of tried and trusted favourite activities from previous years. Live music was provided by Eddy Pachali and Mushrooms Tall As Houses.
