David Rhodes is known to Genesis fans mainly as Peter Gabriel's guitarist. He has played the guitar on all of Gabriel's solo albums and on his live tours.
Rhodes had the idea for a studio album of his own for more than twenty years. He provided material for samplers from Peter Gabriel's RealWorld label (PLUS from US). He mentioned these plans in an interview with it in 2002 though without going into details. It actually took him until 2009 to release his first solo album Bittersweet. It has appeared on the RealWorld spin-off Bowers & Wilkins Society of Sound as a (high-resolution) download. The album will be released on 4th June in Germany. We have no information yet when it will be available in other territories. Rhodes will sell the album on tour also.
The live shows 2010 will all take place in small clubs. An intimate concert atmosphere is therefore guaranteed. Rhodes himself will play and sing on his own. His special guest is the band Paintbox. It has not yet been revealed what songs Rhodes will play besides his new album.
