After the Mama Tour with Genesis and his surprise success with the solo single Against All Odds, Phil Collins sits in on the drums for a "one off" project in March. Singer & guitarist Dave Edmunds has the job of putting together a "fitting" soundtrack for the 50s teenybopper smash Porky's Revenge! and curiously records a cover version of a song from the 50s with him, Paul Martinez and Robert Plant (who is currently recycling old numbers with his All Star fun project The Honeydrippers) under the band name The Crawling King Snakes - one of Plant's ex-bands from the 60s.

Back home, Phil starts thinking about his next solo album. But his skills as a producer and instrumentalist are also in demand again. After Phil had already worked with the Phenix Horns, the brass section of Earth, Wind & Fire, their singer and frontman Philip Bailey now wants to record his third album under Collins' leadership. Even a duet between the two is being written and will become a world hit for both of them. This is the first time Phil Collins has worked with the sought-after bassist Nathan East, which should happen more often in the future...

The winter months from October 1985 to March 1986 are reserved for Genesis, who write and record their new album Invisible Touch in their "farm"...
Also in the new year, "workaholic" Phil's schedule is full to bursting. Probably after the work on the new Genesis album, he will contribute a few drum and vocal tracks for an album song by Chaka Khan, which will also be released as a single later in the year.

After a summer break, Phil is back on the Invisible Tour with Genesis: from 18 September to 24 October in the USA and from 23 November to 20 December in New Zealand and Australia.
Even before Genesis goes into the next round, he plays at two of three Eric Clapton gigs at the Royal Albert Hall in London in January as second drummer alongside Steve Ferrone. The second leg of Genesis' Invisible Tour takes Phil to the US from mid-January to early March and, after a short break, to Japan for a couple of shows in mid-March. In mid to late April Phil is again on tour with Eric Clapton in the USA, of which some soundboard recordings end up on bootlegs, among others with the following song...
