Today, Peter Gabriel has released In The Neighborhood, an unused demo recording from the Scratch My Back project, on Bandcamp.
In the early phase of the Scratch My Back album and project, Peter Gabriel recorded various songs with pianist Jason Rebello in a minimalist style, as a kind of demo for John Metcalfe to then produce corresponding classical arrangements.
One of these songs was In The Neighborhood by Tom Waits, which he ultimately did not use for the album. In 2012, Peter performed the song again for The Voice Project (see here). The version now released on Bandcamp is previously unreleased.
Gabriel's Full Moon Club on Bandcamp provides fans with three tracks per month and costs £3 per month. A credit card is required for the subscription. You can find the Full Moon Club here.
Peter Gabriel created a mixture of the World Music in Passion with the Mainstream of So.
