Other Sides, an album that contains B-sides and demo versions that were not not included in the Remaster reissues, is accompanied by a second digital album called Remixed Sides. As the title suggests, the album contains numerous remixes of Collins songs. It's just a digital album, again, and there are no plans to release the collection on a physical media.
Remixed Sides includes these tracks:
Unlike Other Sides, the tracks on this CD are not arranged chronologically (from the perspective of the original versions). Some of them have become digitally available for the first time (i.e. they have not been released on CD before), others have come out on CD before, but are hard to come by. And a complete official Collins album has also been integrated.
In the Air Tonight (Ben Liebrand Extended Version)
In the Air Tonight ('88 Remix)
Both versions became very popular in 1988. The 88 Remix contains drums accompanying the drum computer in the beginning part of the song. It is, in fact, it's a remix of a 1981 version for the US market (and a single remix) for which Collins recorded additional drums. The 88 Remix was also released as a single and (again) became a big hit. The Ben Liebrand mix, on the other hand, was popular in discotheques at the time and had a completely different atmosphere.
Easy Lover (Extended Dance Mix)
The Extended Mix by Easy Lover has already been released on CD, but it is very rare and hard to find. So it's nice to see that the remix is now also available here.
Take Me Home (Extended Remix)
Sussudio (Extended Remix)
Who Said I Would (Extended Remix)
Only You Know and I Know (Extended Remix)
Don't Lose My Number (Extended Remix)
One More Night (Extended Remix)
All six versions have already been released on the official album 12 "ers in 1988, and some of them were already been released on the Maxi-Singles before.
The Roof Is Leaking (Nicka's Stella Polaris Interpretation)
Like the Easy Lover mix, this remix was also available on a hard to find CD before. It is therefore an unknown mix for many fans, and it looks good on this collection.
Medley Mega Mix: Sussudio / Don't Lose My Number / You Can't Hurry Love
This remix was previously only available on vinyl.
Something Happened On The Way To Heaven (One World Remix)
This remix was already available on the MaxiCD of Something Happened On The Way To Heaven.
Hang in Long Enough (Pettibone 12" Mix)
Hang in Long Enough (Pettibone Dub Mix)
Hang in Long Enough (Pop Club Mix)
Hang in Long Enough (Dub 1)
All remixes were made at the same time, but have been released on different formats. The Pop Club Mix and the Dub Mix were only available on vinyl in the 12" releases of the single, while the Pettibone Mixes were part of the MaxiCD releases.
Wear My Hat (Hat Dance Mix)
Wear My Hat (Wear My Dub)
Both remixes were part of the Wear My Hat MaxiCD. A short edit of the Hat Dance Mix, which is missing on Remixed Sides, was also available.
Although Remixed Sides collects most of Phil Collins' remixes, the compilation is not complete. Compiling all remixes might be an impossible task, so we only refer to remixes that have been created and released as part of Collins releases or record label campaigns. There is, for example, a remix of Papa Was A Rolling Stone that Warner made available on Souncloud. According to our information, it was available only on an Argentine Warner compilation CD.
The edit of the "Hat Dance" mix of Wear My Hat we mentioned above is missing here as well. Of course there are many more edits of the listed remixes, but not all of them (like the "Hat Dance" Edit of Wear My Hat) were released on the MaxiCDs.
The cover design, however, is absolutely terrible. Why did the people in charge not come up with anything better? Any intern in graphic design would have done a better job.
It's nice that these remixes are now all released together on one album. Rumours about such a project first surface in the 1990s, but nothing came of it. What makes this release annoying is the decision to release it only as a digital album, and double annoying because of the lack of several remixes.
New singles compilation with bonus CD featuring many B-sides.
