Phil Collins: North American tour dates revealed
Not Dead Yet - Live! Tour will continue in late 2018
After touring Europe and South America, Phil Collins' Not Dead Yet - Live! Tour will finally come to North America in October 2018.
When a "big announcement coming Monday" was posted last week, a lot of fans were sure it would either be concerts in Australia/Asia or North America. It was not too much of a surprise that the latter turned out to be true. But the numerous guesses for dates in the Far East and Oceania prove that after a very successful run of shows throughout South America, almost nothing seems impossible. At least when it comes to the opinion of Phil Collins' fans. Apart from the fact that he still spends his shows sitting, he seems to be getting in better shape with every gig he plays. So keeping in mind that he is not drumming or running around on stage anymore, fans in the USA and Canada have a lot to look forward to this fall.
Starting in the Miami area on 5th October 2018, the North American tour leg will not only kick off with a kind of home match for Phil. It will also be his return to the very arena in Sunrise, Florida (a suburb of Fort Lauderdale) where he played his last US tour concert on the First Final Farewell Tour back in 2004. Funnily enough, it will take place just a little more than 14 years after the last show at the Office Depot Center (now called BB&T Center).
Same as in 2004 the tour concentrates on the US East Coast. Canada is only represented with one concert each in Toronto and Montréal, as usual. In many cases the next tour leg will be a return to places played in 2004 on his last proper tour. But there are a few exceptions worth talking about:
The first of which are the two shows in the New York area. Last time Phil Collins played at the famous Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. This time he plays his very first concerts Newark, New Jersey at the Prudential Center, inaugurated in 2007, and in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center, which opened in 2012.
One of only two gigs in the US Midwest will be in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Phil Collins (at least as a solo artist) has only played in the Twin Cities once before: on his debut tour back in February 1983. So a long absence of 35 years will come to an end this year.
The antepenultimate concert in October will take place at the Coliseum in Oakland, California. It marks Phil's first concert at this venue since June 1985. The later Bay area concerts were mostly played in San Jose.
The tour will conclude on 28 October 2018 in Los Angeles, where Phil will play The Forum in Inglewood for the first time in 24 years.
The schedule is very tight with 15 shows played within 24 days with only 9 days off in between. This means that there are very few possibilities (if any) for additional concerts. Considering that the tour goes from one coast to the other in Nicholas Collins' school holidays once again, it is also unlikely that dates will be added after the ones announced so far.
Tickets for the American and Canadian shows will go on presale later this week. The general sale early next week. Ticket prices range from 50 USD up to more than 300 USD. As usual you find details about tour dates and ticket presales on our tour page (see link below).
Of
course the selection of places for this tour leg will leave a lot of
fans disappointed. As in 2004 there are no shows in the Pacific
Northwest. States such as Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas and Arizona will
also completely miss out this time.
And there is still a huge number of fans in Oceania and Asia waiting for Phil to return after a wait of 23 years and counting. But as stated before, almost anything seems possible...
